technology has really changed the
ability to tell stories we make
understanding of things everything we
make understanding of through telling
stories media consumption is shifting
tomorrow
so the time that people used to spend
with print in with radio and what
television is shifting to that damn tiny
little screen so biggest challenge is a
marketeer is that everyone's building
cool shit at the moment there's a
hundred and ten million developers out
there so the question is how to acquire
users activate them and retain them as
effectively and as cheaply as possible
yeah so one of the biggest challenges is
that I was the first person to join
HubSpot focusing on brand strategy so it
was kind of a blank slate in a lot of
ways and we wanted to make sure that we
were gonna stay authentic to the brand
and any worse well as a marketer we face
a lot of services I think you understand
what people are actually interested in
what's going on as a company what do you
really stand for the challenge is there
are many embarrassed in a practical
sense it's really about shipping value
to have customers my piece of advice
would be to embrace disruption there's a
lot of resistance that comes from event
marketeers like oh I don't know what
this snapchat is or I don't know if I
really want to get into virtual reality
and my advice is you should embrace it
try something new those types of
experiences really resonate with your
audience and they'll appreciate that
you're going out and trying something
different than just doing the same Sam I
think always try to be progressive I
think trying not to do things the way
they were done before don't look too
much surpassed don't look too much what
everybody else is doing I think you know
know your story know you know your
direction and think about where you are
see your outcome focus on that don't
look too much around you for that stuff
and be progressive don't try and do it
way other people anything well I think
it's always difficult to give advice to
other people but do something from the
heart do something that really matters
go for purpose and sell for money one is
a mean and doesn't bring easy and if you
have that purpose then give it
everything you have and you will be
proud so that's why my big lesson to
everybody
